Unwind's instructors are passionate about yarn and are first-rate knitters and crocheters. We offer a variety of classes for all levels and interests throughout the year. Class materials must be purchased at Unwind.

INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION – Knit & Crochet
Perfect for help with patterns, learning to finish garments or a quick refresher.
1 person, 1 hour - $40; 1 person, 2 hours - $75
2 people, 1 hour - $75; 2 people, 2 hours - $145

Knit Now Perfect for Beginners and Those Brushing Up on Skills
Instructor: Krista Pope

You'll learn:
• Cast on & Bind off
• Knit stitch & Purl stitch
• Changing colors & Adding yarn
• Weaving in Ends
• Basic Increase & Decrease
• Decoding Yarn Labels, Gauge, & Needle Sizes
• Basic Pattern Reading
• Start on a real project and get all the help that you need to complete it.

Introduction To Machine Sewing!
Instructor: Suzanne Shaw

Basic sewing techniques are fun and easy! If you’ve never sewn before, this is your class. We’ll make a lined tote bag in class. You’ll learn:
• Get To Know Your Machine
• Threading the Needle
• All About Bobbins
• Basic Stitches
• What’s a Seam Allowance
• Marking
•Finishing and Lining

Three hours. $120 includes fabric, thread and notions to use in class.

KnitSpeak- Learn to Read Patterns
Instructor: Stephanie Steinhaus

Are you just stumped by the language of knitting patterns? What are all the abbreviations? How do I do things “At The Same Time?” Why can’t they just be in English? Let Stephanie decode all the language and secrets of patterns for you and get started knitting the items of your dreams.
You'll learn:
• Decode abbreviations
• How to re-write a pattern in your own words
• What the patterns assume that you know
• Where to find the info that you need when you need it

Enter the Lace Race!
Instructor: Krista Pope

Lace is beautiful and easier than you might think! Join Krista, and knit up your own “Juliet Scarf” From Louisa Harding’s book, Knitting Little Luxuries.
You'll learn:
• Reading Lace Charts
• Directional Decreases & Why they are worth knowing
• Learn to knit the Juliet scarf!
• Knitting a rosette for embellishment

Cables open up a whole world of possibilities, and they are just about the easiest thing to do in knitting. Join us for this comprehensive class in cables!

Sock It To Me on Double Points (DPNs) and Two Circular Needles!
Socks remain the perfect project for new or experienced knitters. They are portable, simple, and use a small amount of beautiful yarn. Socks make great gifts and turning that heel make you feel quite powerful! We’ll make a mini-sock for practice and you choose whether to use using two circular needles or DPNs.
• Knit socks on two circular needles
• Shaping heels and toe
• Kitchener Stitch
• Knit a practice sock
• Tips & Tricks for Working Around

Two hours. $50 plus materials (2 circular needles 16” or 24” length US 7 or 8 OR 1 set 5 DPNs US 7 or US 8 AND worsted weight yarn). Sign up for this class online.

Debbie is one of Rowan’s stable of amazing designers, and author of such inspirational books as 100Afghan Squares To Knit. She is touring the States this year, making Unwind her only Southern California stop! We were so lucky to host Debbie a couple of years back, and her classes sold out quickly. She is a wonderfully approachable teacher, and the sweetest person alive. Treat yourself to an amazing opportunity, and knit with one of Britain’s leading handknit designers. More info to follow.
